Do you need some motivation? It's hard to feel down on yourself that you just can't DO all the things, when you listen to the inspirational author journey of Lois Strachan, a blind children's book author and rock star!
What we cover:
1 the importance of sharing your story to help others overcome challenges in their life.
2 The similarities and differences in writing, publishing and marketing a book as a blind author.
3 The benefits of releasing a second edition of a previously published book.
Lois Strachan describes herself as an ordinary person living an ordinary life. Some may disagree.
Lois is a disability advocate, the author of 5 books, a motivational speaker, podcaster, blogger, and is a sometime rock musician. And she is totally blind, having lost her sight at the age of 21 due to diabetic retinopathy.
Highlights of her ‘ordinary’ life include reaching No 1 on the South African rock music charts, being elected as District Governor of Toastmasters International Southern African district, and accidentally almost standing on Nelson Mandela’s toes.
Her books include a series of illustrated children’s books, “The Adventures of Missy Mouse”, and her memoir, “A Different Way of Seeing: A blind woman’s journey of living an ‘ordinary’ life in an extraordinary way”, which achieved best seller status on Amazon. She is currently busy with her sixth book, written from the perspective of her beloved guide dog, Fiji, and is also busy with the audio version of her memoir, both of which she hopes to publish during 2021.
Lois lives in Cape Town, South Africa with her husband and a houseful of dogs, one of whom is her co-author guide dog, Fiji.
